Cirque Du Soleil - 'Auana
We co-created ‘Auana, an exclusive Cirque du Soleil production for Honolulu, shaping everything from concept and production design to branding, marketing, and art direction. Blending Hawaiian folklore with Cirque’s surreal theatrical style, ‘Auana features acrobatics, music and dance. Working hand-in-hand with local cultural advisors, we grounded every creative decision in authenticity—from storytelling and choreography to costume and visual identity. The aesthetic drew from kapa, a traditional barkcloth, with hand-printed textures and geometric patterns forming the foundation of the design language. Our rainbow-inspired colour palette is symbolic in Hawaiian culture. We storyboarded the full production, led art direction across departments, and developed detailed guidelines for costumes, set, and props. Our team also concepted, designed, and animated projection and LED content. With ‘Auana, we helped craft not just a show, but a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian culture.
